What are some of the most recent movies with Steve Martin?

Rotten Tomatoes lists 2026 documentary-style self appearances, including Lorne and Marty, Life Is Short (Rotten Tomatoes (film review aggregator)). Cameos and profiles are not starring roles, and that distinction matters when a reader asks what Martin has actually been making.

Metacritic lists Marty, Life Is Short with a 2026 date and a score of 68, and Who Is Martin Mull? with a TBD score (Metacritic (review aggregator)). Decider reviewed Marty, Life Is Short on May 12, 2026, with Martin Short’s comedy family as its subject (Decider (streaming review site)).

What was the last movie Steve Martin starred in?

  • No dated source in this review confirms a feature title as Martin’s most recent release.
  • Decider reviewed Who Is Martin Mull?, a documentary profile of Martin Mull, on (Decider (streaming review site)). Martin’s own credit in it is not confirmed.
  • Older credits such as Roxanne (1987), Father of the Bride (1991) and Cheaper by the Dozen (2003) have no anchored source in this review.
  • Apple lists a single, Old Town Road, dated October 8, 2026, which is a music release rather than a film (Apple (catalog listing)).

The catch: most 2026 entries are self-appearances in other people’s projects, so the answer to “last movie” depends on whether a cameo counts as a film credit.

What is the latest TV series starring Steve Martin?

The series is Only Murders in the Building. Season 6 is branded Only Murders in London, and according to Variety, Charles, Oliver and Mabel travel to the UK to solve a murder brought by Cinda Canning, played by Tina Fey (Variety (trade publication)).

Martin co-created the show with John Hoffman for Hulu, and he plays Charles-Haden Savage (Wikipedia (filmography reference)).

What is the Netflix show with Steve Martin and Martin Short?

  • The series streams on Hulu, not Netflix. Variety reports the Season 6 premiere on Hulu (Variety (trade publication)).
  • The Netflix title is the 2018 special An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life, a separate project (Disciples of Comedy (comedy fan site)).
  • Season 6 guest stars listed include Olivia Colman, Meryl Streep, David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan and Martin Freeman (Variety (trade publication)).

Season 5 ended with Charles, Oliver and Mabel discovering another murder at the Arconia, according to E! Online (E! Online (entertainment news)). SitcomsOnline reports that Disney+ carries the season internationally, though that Tier 3 summary has not been checked against a platform listing (SitcomsOnline (TV blog)).

The implication: the Netflix premise is wrong, and Hulu is the platform to check for Season 6.

What illness does Steve Martin have?

No verified illness appears in the material reviewed for this article. Health claims about Martin circulate widely, but none in the research set comes with a diagnosis, a medical record or a dated primary source, so this article does not repeat them as fact.

A separate question about Martin Mull’s cause of death concerns a different person and falls outside this piece.

When did Steve Martin have his stroke?

  • No stroke date appears in any source retrieved for this review.
  • Any stroke report needs a dated primary or Tier 2 source before publication.
  • Undated posts about a stroke should be treated as unconfirmed.
What to watch

Undated health posts about Martin spread faster than sources can verify them, so a single unsourced claim should not change what a reader believes.

The catch: silence in the sources means nothing has been documented, not that Martin is well or unwell.

What instruments does Steve Martin play?

Some profile data names the banjo, but no retrieved music profile confirms an instrument, so this article does not state one as fact. The nearest dated music item is an Apple listing for a single titled Old Town Road (feat. Del McCoury & Dan Tyminski), dated October 8, 2026 (Apple (catalog listing)). The listing is flagged low confidence because the credit still needs confirmation.

The implication: an instrument claim needs an official credit or a Tier 2 music source, and this review found neither.

What happened between Steve Martin and Victoria Tennant?

Background material gives 1986 as the year Martin married Victoria Tennant and 1994 as the year the marriage ended in divorce. None of the sources retrieved for this review confirms either date, so both remain unverified, and the timeline below leaves them out.

Private reasons for the split appear in no source reviewed, and this article does not speculate on them.

Timeline

  • : Martin and Martin Short’s comeback tour becomes the Netflix special An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life (Disciples of Comedy (comedy fan site)).
  • : Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building ends with a new murder at the Arconia (E! Online (entertainment news)).
  • : Decider reviews Who Is Martin Mull? (Decider (streaming review site)).
  • : Martin and Martin Short play the Fabulous Fox in St. Louis (MARTINCID (profile site)).
  • : CBS Sunday Morning airs the STEVE!(martin) segment (Paramount+ (CBS Sunday Morning broadcast)).
  • : Season 6 of Only Murders in London premieres on Hulu (Variety (trade publication)).
  • : the reported window for Oswald on Disney+ (MARTINCID (profile site)).

The pattern: the dated entries cluster in October and December 2026, so most open 2026 claims should resolve against those dates.

Confirmed vs. unverified

Confirmed

  • Season 6 of Only Murders in the Building premieres on Hulu on (Variety (trade publication)).
  • Martin co-created Only Murders in the Building with John Hoffman (Wikipedia (filmography reference)).
  • STEVE!(martin) aired on CBS Sunday Morning on (Paramount+ (CBS Sunday Morning broadcast)).
  • Martin hosted Saturday Night Live 16 times between 1976 and 2022 (Wikipedia (filmography reference)).

Unverified

  • Illness and stroke: no verified source in the material reviewed.
  • Current wife and daughter details: these require a primary source.
  • Twin brother: no verified source.
  • Net worth: no verified source.
  • Banjo and other instruments: no official credit found.
  • The most recent film: no dated source confirms a title.
  • Oswald’s February 2027 window rests on a Tier 3 profile.
  • Academy Awards hosting in 2001, 2003 and 2010: low confidence, one comedy fan site.
  • Victoria Tennant marriage dates: no retrieved source confirms them.

The implication: the verified core is narrow, so the most reliable answers on Martin’s current work are the Hulu season and the CBS segment, not the health or family headlines.

What people said on the record

“You don’t make a career choice in show business. It happens.”

Steve Martin, in a syndicated TV Tinsel column via Recorder Online (syndicated TV column)

“Wild things happening.”

The upshot

Martin’s remark explains his attitude toward work but dates nothing, so on its own it cannot anchor a timeline.

The trade-off: the only Martin voice here comes from a syndicated column, so it reveals temperament rather than current plans.

Where the 2026 picture stands

The firmest 2026 fact is that Only Murders in the Building returns as Only Murders in London, while the health, family and instrument claims remain open. For readers following Steve Martin’s current work, the practical step is to check Hulu for the Season 6 premiere and the CBS Sunday Morning segment, and to treat any headline about illness or family as unverified until a primary source appears.
